Marriage Registration of a Costa Rican Citizen Married Abroad

• The registration can be made directly in Costa Rica at the Civil Registry. Please consult with our Consulate.
• Marriage registration is ALWAYS free.

Requirements:

1. Letter addressed to the Consulate requesting the registration of the marriage indicating the contact numbers and email for notifications.
2. Application Form HERE
3. Original of the marriage certificate duly legalized, everything about legalisation HERE 
4. Official translation of the marriage certificate if it is not in Spanish.
5. Original cédula, valid and in good condition or Valid passport of the foreign person.
6. Payment receipt for the document sent to Costa Rica

Your application will be sent by one of the means chosen by you,
       (a) regular registered mail, arrival to Costa Rica takes up to two weeks
       (b) courier, arrives in three or four days in Costa Rica

You will be informed of the cost and payment method before your appointment.
