Mr Hosea Richardo, Third Secretary to the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore was speaking at the Embassy where cheques, totalling S$70,000, were presented to two local beneficiaries as part of the first diplomatic charity bazaar held in conjunction with Singapore's 50th anniversary: The Singapore Children's Society and the Straits Times Pocket Money Fund.
Singapore – A total of S$70,000 net proceeds have been successfully raised by the Diplomatic and Consular Corps in Singapore at the SG50 Diplomatic Charity Bazaar. Held on Saturday, October 24th, 2015 at Shangri-La Hotel Singapore, the SG50 Diplomatic Charity Bazaar is a charity event organized by the Diplomatic and Consular Corps in Singapore to commemorate Singapore’s 50 Anniversary celebrations and to bring culture, fun, love, culture and communities closer together.
The SG50 Diplomatic Charity Bazaar was inaugurated by H.E. Vivian Balakrishnan, Singapore Minister of Foreign Affairs. Approximately 2,000 visitors were entertained by more than 15 cultural performances and 40 stalls which showcased various traditional cuisine and cultural handicrafts. It was a very exciting moment to experience “The World in One Afternoon”.
The cheques of the net proceeds have been presented to the representatives of the Straits Times Pocket Money Fund and Singapore Children’s Society, on Friday, January 15th, 2016 at 10 am at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia. Each charity beneficiary received S$35,000 respectively.
The cheques were presented by the Dean of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps in Singapore, Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the Republic of Singapore, H.E. Luis Fernando Serra accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore, Mr. Chee Wee Kiong; and in the presence of fellow members of the Working Group for Organising Committee, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Dr. Andri Hadi; Ambassador of the Republic of Chile, H.E. James Sinclair Manley; as well as Head of participating missions or its representatives, among others: Ambassador of the Republic of Costa Rica, H.E. Jairo Hernandez; Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, H.E. Bansarn Bunnag; Charge d’Affaires e.p. of the Embassy of the Republic of Colombia, Mr. Mauricio Baquero; representative for the High Commission of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh; Counsellor Samia Halim; Honorary Consul General of Greece, Mr. Andreas Goros; and Honorary Consul of the Republic of Uganda, Capt. Beh Hwang Chwee.
