What is a Restricted Visa?
It is for short term stays for tourism or business visitor activities such as attending a conference, making business enquiries, or for contractual negotiations. It is not a work visa.

An application process will involve the following 4 steps:
Visa Pre-Approval
- Complete the form below and submit all requested documents.
- Ensure all documents have been properly legalized and translated to spanish.
- Should you have a problem submitting the documents in the form below, please email all relevant documents to embassycrsg@gmail.com
- The consulate may take up to 30 working days to process your application before replying.
- If your Pre-Approval is successful, we will provide you with a date and time for your interview, which you must attend in person.
- You must bring all the original documents that were submitted for Pre-Approval.
- Any application not accompanied by the proper and original documents will be rejected.
- Your application will be sent to the General Directorate of Migration and Immigration in Costa Rica, where they will make a final decision.
- This process will take up to 30 working days.
Please note:
- The Visa Application must be done by the interested party, and cannot be done by a third party.
- Submit all relevant documents, and bring the original documents for your visa interview appointment.
- Bring a passport-sized photo with your appointment (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm, white background).
- All documents have to be properly legalized and translated to Spanish prior to submission.
- You must have a Ticket Reservation, Return Ticket, or Onward Journey Ticket indicating the continuation of your trip.
- Visa Pre-Approval is not equivalent to succeeding in getting a visa.
- If you are not in Singapore, documents requiring legalization may be uploaded without the legalization from the Singaporean Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), as long as all other steps (as can be found here) prior to that stage have been completed. However, legalization from the Singaporean MFA must be completed prior to your interview appointment.
- Collection of approved visas will be by appointment only, and can only be done by the interested party and not a third party.
- Should the consulate require it, we may request additional documents from you to facilitate the visa application process.
Documents to Submit
- Visa Request Letter
- Visa Application Form
- Scan of all pages of your passport. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date on entry to Costa Rica.
- Ticket reservation for the journey there and return on continuing journey
- Police Clarence letter, legalized and translated to Spanish
- Proof of Economic solvency
Payment
Payment for an approved consular visa is USD$52, and should be made only after you have received confirmation that your visa has been approved.
Fees must be deposited at the Embassy’s bank account, as the Consulate does not accept any form of payment. The deposit must indicate the name of the applicant. At your Visa Stamping Appointment, you must present a Bank Receipt indicating the Singapore Dollars equivalent of USD$52 (American Dollars).
